Hello, dear readers!
I’m Tammy Compton, the Quality Counts Program Director for Spartanburg County First Steps. Our mission is to partner with early care programs to create high-quality learning environments for children from birth to age five. Today, I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal.

We are embarking on a fundraising journey to provide books to children and early care programs in our community. Last year, thanks to the generous support of donors like you, we were able to distribute nearly 14,000 books to children in Spartanburg County. These books weren’t just for show; they were read daily to the children, accompanied by creative learning activities that brought the stories to life. And the best part? At the end of each week, every child took home a book to add to their personal home library.
We believe that this literacy program lays the groundwork for a lifelong love of reading and is a crucial step toward school readiness. But we need your help to continue this important work. Your support will enable us to select books that captivate the imaginations of young children and ignite their passion for reading.
Will you become a “Book Fairy” and help Quality Counts secure books for our young learners? Your contribution will make a significant difference in expanding our literacy footprint for Spartanburg’s youngest residents. Click here to donate.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in our community. Together, we can foster a love of reading that will benefit them for years to come!
