The addition of the Quality Counts signage in our community has been a plus. It has created a conversation that I think will only continue to improve. The conversations are positive and student-centered. We are definitely on the right track.
Similar to ratings used for restaurants, Quality Counts uses a 5 star scale to communicate the level of quality in child care programs to provide parents with a tool for choosing quality child care.
Star ratings are based on five quality standards:
- Children’s learning environment
- Staff qualifications
- Number of teachers and children per classroom
- Program administration
- Family engagement
